500-Hour Program

If your goal is to become a professional Massage Therapist, we recommend the 500-hour program. Hours from all courses and electives offered at McKinnon count toward the 500-hour total. 500-Hour Program benefits include complimentary student membership/liability insurance through ABMP, personal instructor feedback, and additional program/career support. In California, 500 hours of education from an approved school and a passing score on the MBLEx are required for Certified Massage Therapist status (information is available at www.camtc.org). (read more)

Continuing Education

For professionals, or those on that path, McKinnon courses offer additional skills to bring depth and creativity to your sessions. As an institution that has served the field of massage therapy since 1973, we have developed comprehensive and rich educational opportunities designed to support and expand the unique skills and experiences of each our students. All of our courses can be taken individually and chosen according to what works for your schedule. Practice Sessions

Build confidence and improve your craft through weekly practice sessions with McKinnon instructors. Practice sessions are hands-on: be prepared to trade and stay the entire session. Held every Sunday from 6 pm to 9 pm, practice sessions are an opportunity for existing students and alumni to hone their skills and get some valuable, out-of-class practice time. Practice sessions are only open to McKinnon grads and current students. Practice Sessions are free for current students and $10 an evening for former students.

Former students from McKinnon BTC, Acupressure Institute, or BTC in Palo Alto can request transcripts for $15 each and have them sent to the California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC) or to another address.
